Brownfield site, Glasgow

Commercial development site with Japanese knotweed

TCM were commissioned by a Commercial company wishing to develop a brownfield site in Glasgow, Scotland.  This was to enable the relocation of businesses in anticipation of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the planned extension of the M74.

Commercial soil screening program at Brownfield site in Glasgow.

8-week commercial soil screening program

Due to development deadlines, the area was not suitable for herbicidal treatment. Therefore, an 8-week soil screening programme was developed and implemented in order to remove the Japanese knotweed infestation.

Installation of root barrier membrane

Japanese knotweed was also growing on the adjacent land. We were unable to access this area so that a root barrier membrane coulf also be installed to avoid re-infestation from the land.

TCM also arranged for the demolition and removal of a large concrete structure on the land, alongside asbestos removal.

Timely project completion

Our team completed the soil screening project within the required timeline, within budget, and with TCM’s comprehensive insurance backed warranty.  By utilising this type of knotweed removal solutions, the land developers were now able to start work on their building contract, knowing that the presence of knotweed would no longer be an issue.
